Hi, Im Allison Mervin,

a clinical mental health counselor licensed in Utah and Idaho, providing therapy for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and major life transitions. I work from a blend of practical, evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also utilize deeper, insight-oriented methods, including analytical psychology, dreamwork, and nature-based counseling.

I offer individual therapy in Salt Lake City, as well as telehealth counseling across Utah and Idaho. Services include traditional office-based therapy, trail therapy, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy integration for clients preparing for or integrating ketamine treatment. I believe healing can take many forms, whether we are sitting together in an office, walking in nature, or making sense of a powerful therapeutic experience through integration work.

Before becoming a therapist, I held a variety of jobs and life experiences that shaped how I understand people and the world around them. After earning my bachelor’s degrees in international studies and anthropology, I chose to join the Peace Corps. Although my time there was short-lived, returning home early became an important and formative experience that deepened my understanding of resilience, identity, and change.

Following the Peace Corps, I worked in several roles within the mental health field, including as a wilderness therapy guide and as a case manager for unhoused young women in Salt Lake City, serving individuals ages 18 to 21. These experiences strengthened my commitment to trauma-informed, compassionate care and reinforced the importance of meeting people where they are.

After graduate school, I worked as a clinical mental health counselor in outpatient, Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) settings. Throughout my professional journey, I have learned many important lessons, most notably the importance of connection, the value of honoring our shared human experiences, and the understanding that every person carries meaningful strengths and insight.

It is my deepest hope to help individuals recognize their inherent value, just as they are, and to support them in building a life that feels grounded, authentic, and aligned.
